Multimodal creates immersive experiences at the intersection of art, science and technology.
We are a team of artists who build ambitious installations and create experiences which integrate the digital and physical – for example generative and responsive real-time video, bespoke light sculptures, interactive installations, pixel-mapped environmental lighting and projection mapping.
We produce commissioned work for festivals, music videos, exhibitions, venue installations and public arts.
We run a variety of ongoing experiments, including our own standalone event series which explores broad scientific phenomena and mathematical concepts; from chaos and complexity theory, to multimodal integration in the neuroscience of perception. The experimental experiences harness real-time, generative systems to synthesise environments which reflect the dynamics and mechanisms of the wider systems in nature.
Multimodal is a project by MW and is a long-term collaborator with music promoter Wigflex. Currently working out of a studio at One Thoresby Street in Nottingham.
Previous projects include Sensing Systems, 2020 | Leftlion article.
